Greetings from AFRINIC, AFRINIC is one of two RIRs with IPv4 addresses in its available pool—1,015,552 million, to be specific. Of course, this is grossly inadequate to meet Africa’s current IP address needs, making IPv6 the only sustainable way to continue to grow the Internet's potential in Africa. That’s why, in 2018, after having trained over 6,000 engineers from 50 countries, we designed and organised the world’s first Deployathon to shorten the time between learning about IPv6 and actually implementing it. In 2020, we redesigned the event and organised it entirely online. Nevertheless, 40 organisations from 20 countries were able to accomplish 75 deployment KPIs: 23 validated route6 object 19 validated RPKI ROA objects 13 address plans in IPAMS 11 advertised IPv6 prefixes 3 IPv6-enabled DNS 2 IPv6 traffic from test VLAN 1 DNSSEC IPv6 signed IPv6 reverse zone 1 IPv6-enabled website 1 IPv6-enabled email 1 network with IPv6 user traffic If selected, you will get the same step by step guidance, tools and techniques we’ve perfected in 9 (e-)Deployathons and +500 helpdesk calls to help you move your IPv6 deployment one clearly measurable step forward in full accordance with your network change management processes. APRICOT 2025: Call for Program Committee Volunteers

Hello all. The APRICOT 2025 Organising Committee would like to welcome everyone to join us in Petaling Jaya, Malaysia, from the 19th to the 27th, February 2025. The APRICOT 2025 Programme Committee is responsible for the solicitation and selection of suitable presentations and tutorial content for the APRICOT 2025 conference (https://2025.apricot.net/) We are now seeking VOLUNTEERS from the community to join the APRICOT 2025 PC to assist with the development of the programme for APRICOT 2025. Eligible PC candidates must have attended recent APRICOT events, have broad technical knowledge of Internet operations, and have good familiarity with the format of APRICOT. Having constructive opinions and ideas about how the programme content might be improved is of high value too. PC members are expected to work very actively to solicit content, follow-through for speaker updates and review submissions for technical merit . The PC meets by conference call, weekly in frequency during the three months prior to APRICOT. While participation in the weekly calls is not obligatory, active participation in content reviews is required at all times to help the PC reach consensus. PC members who are unable to fully participate in the programme development will be excused from the PC. If you are interested in joining the PC and meet the above eligibility criteria, please send a brief note to "pc-chairs at apricot.net". The note must include affiliation (if any) and a brief description about why you would make a good addition to the PC. Hi Everyone Quick question. Im sure the wheel has already been invented, however let me throw it out there anyway I need someway to generate RSS feeds or network status direct from Vumatel / openserve / metro etc feeds and bring into our site so clients can see if something is down in the area I was going to use FreshRSS unless there is an easier way to do this and also which feeds should I import directly from. I know rocketnet are doing similar so well done to them, maybe they can share what they are doing. Im trying to reduce the amount of tickets and call in clients when their fibre goes offline, so I want them to first check if their area is affected or not. Hi folks. I'm Jim Forster, an ex cisco techy, now investing in smaller ISPs in Africa & Asia A fast growing ISP in South Africa is looking for a Director or VP, Network Engineering. The roles covers 3 core functions; 1.⁠ ⁠Network operations; ensuring the network is online 24/7. It includes the highsite field teams and the NOC. There are 10 people here and it will double at least. 2.⁠ ⁠⁠Design and Optimization; managing the core network mainly, IP/NLD, routing, the DCs and network planning. There are 3 engineers there and this team will grow. 3.⁠ ⁠⁠Rollout and Expansion; a new department responsible for network growth. They've been growing ~100% /year, and are just closing a very nice funding round, so must get ahead of the curve for network expansion. I’m fond of saying “small networks are easy, big networks are different”.
