Dear colleagues,

On behalf of the Bylaws Review Committee (BRC), we would like to sincerely thank everyone who participated in the initial community consultation on the review of AFRINIC's Constitution. The Committee greatly appreciates the time, effort and constructive feedback received from across the community.

Following the close of the first consultation, the Committee carefully reviewed every submission received. Comments were analysed both individually and collectively to identify common themes, areas of consensus, and issues requiring further consideration. In developing the proposed amendments, the Committee also took into account applicable legal and regulatory requirements, recognised principles of good corporate governance, operational practicality, and AFRINIC's long-term sustainability.

The consultation platform enables the community to review, on a section-by-section basis: • the existing constitutional provision; • the corresponding proposed amendment; • the rationale for the proposed amendment; and • submit comments on each provision.

The community consultation will be open from 04 August to 21 August 2026 at 23:59 UTC. We encourage all members of the AFRINIC community to review the proposed amendments and share their comments before the closing date.

Following the consultation, the Committee will consider all comments received and make any revisions it considers appropriate. The final draft will then undergo an independent external legal review before the Committee submits its recommendations to the AFRINIC Board. Subject to the Board's approval, the proposed amended Constitution will thereafter be presented to the AFRINIC membership for consideration at a Special General Members Meeting.

The BRC remains committed to a transparent, inclusive and community-driven review process and looks forward to your continued participation.

Deuxième consultation communautaire sur la version amendée de la Constitution d'AFRINIC

Chère communauté AFRINIC,

Au nom du Comité de révision des statuts (Bylaws Review Committee - BRC), nous tenons à remercier sincèrement toutes les personnes ayant participé à la première consultation communautaire sur la révision de la Constitution d'AFRINIC. Le Comité apprécie grandement le temps consacré, les efforts déployés et les commentaires constructifs formulés par l’ensemble de la communauté.

À l’issue de cette première consultation, le Comité a examiné avec attention chacune des contributions reçues. Les commentaires ont été analysés individuellement et collectivement afin d’identifier les thèmes communs, les points de consensus ainsi que les questions nécessitant un examen plus approfondi. Dans l’élaboration des modifications proposées, le Comité a également tenu compte des exigences légales et réglementaires applicables, des principes reconnus de bonne gouvernance d’entreprise, de la faisabilité opérationnelle ainsi que de la pérennité à long terme d’AFRINIC.

La plateforme de consultation permet à la communauté d'examiner, section par section : • la disposition constitutionnelle existante ; • la modification proposée correspondante ; • la justification de la modification proposée ; et • La soumission de commentaires pour chaque disposition.

Le projet final fera ensuite l’objet d’un examen juridique externe et indépendant, avant que le Comité ne soumette ses recommandations au Conseil d’administration d’AFRINIC. Sous réserve de l’approbation du Conseil d’administration, la version amendée de la Constitution sera ensuite soumise à l’examen des membres d’AFRINIC lors d’une Assemblée générale spéciale des membres.
