Dear Hadia
Various dates have been announced regarding this ongoing election, first that they elections shall be held on 29th August 2025 will be conducted exclusively online https://lists.afrinic.net/pipermail/announce/2025/002477.html
On the website they set the election date to 12th September in this document which I have since downloaded here https://elections.afrinic.net/images/election25/AFRINIC_Election_Guidelines_...
On the website there is another page which sets the election date to 15th September here https://elections.afrinic.net/about-election-2025/election-guidelines
I must point out the fact that Mr.Dabee has ensured only about 500 resource members are allowed to vote even when historically, different members paid their membership fees at different times including on the day of election so as to be able to be in good standing and vote as it's their right.
The ongoing election under Mr. Dabee supervision unconstitutionally set a deadline for resource members to register to vote and those resource members who paid their membership fees later after the said deadline even today, they are in good standing will never be able to vote in an election process whose dates of elections have changed multiple times
I have made it a point to document all these irregularities and state of confusion with the ongoing election process. I would also like to point out to you as NOMCOM Chair, that the ongoing election is unconstitutional and I have attached herein an email I sent to Mr.Dabee about the same for your reference and consideration. I pointed out the need to seek members' motions for any deviations to the Bylaws and the need for court order for any deviation to the Bylaws endorsed by both Resource members and the receiver.
It is stated in the election guideline under section 3.8 that Mr.Dabee the "3.8 As AFRINIC currently has no directors in office, the Receiver shall, for all intents and purposes, be deemed to exercise all the powers of the Board, as conferred by the Bylaws, for the purposes of this election. Accordingly, both the NomCom and ElecCom shall operate under such written guidance of the Receiver"

Has NOMCOM raised these issues before the receiver?
Has NOMCOM questioned the receiver about these deviations considering the fact that the receiver was appointed to reconstitute the board as per bylaw as he himself announced in February if where the constitution can not be implemented, seek resource members guidance through a motion as per the bylaws and also court mandate?

Dear Esteemed Members,
The NomCom would like to express its sincere appreciation to every member of the community for your strong response and interest in the recent call for candidates for the AFRINIC Board of Directors.
*The call for candidates officially closed on Tuesday, 2nd September, 2025 with 29 valid submissions received.*
Since the opening of the call, the NomCom has been carefully evaluating all submissions. Together with the election committee, we are verifying that each nominee is supported by at least two different community members, that each nominator and seconder is of good standing, registered before 19 September 2023, and that the regional criteria are met.
In addition, all nominees who meet both the minimum eligibility requirements as well as the specific eligibility criteria are undergoing due diligence and background checks. The final slate of candidates will be published once all background checks are completed.
We thank you once again for your continued support. An update regarding the publication of the final slate of candidates will be shared early next week.
Sincerely, NomCom Chair Hadia Elminiawi (On behalf of the NomCom Team) _______________________________________________ Members-Discuss mailing list Members-Discuss@afrinic.net https://lists.afrinic.net/mailman/listinfo/members-discuss
