ICMP v6, Mikrotik Issues BGP
by Lionel Whitecross 28 Nov '25

28 Nov '25

Morning Peers, Have any of you had issues with IPv6 on Mikrotik, trying to bring back up our Google IPv6 however they cannot ping us on IPv6, I had similar issues with Seacom and rebooted router and then all of a sudden started working again. They need to be able to ping us in order for the BGP session to come up. Running V7.19.4 Tried turning off firewall rules, you name it. I can't see anything in the Mikrotik Forums regarding this, I'm just wondering if any of you have had similar experiences. Thank

by comms＠afrinic.net 21 Oct '25

21 Oct '25

(Apologies for cross-posting) Dear Colleagues, Registration for the webinar on "Updating ICP-2: Advancing Internet Number Governance for the Future" is ongoing. * Date: Tuesday 21st October 2025 * Time: 10:00 -11:00 UTC * Duration: 1:00 Hr * Registration Link<https://us02web.zoom.us/webinar/register/4417605103013/WN_02Su1UIGQSub3mHYK…> ________________________________ The session will be conducted by the members of the ASO Address Council members and the panel will include: * Mr. Hervé Clément -Member, Number Resource Organization Number Council (NRO NC) * Mr. Andrei Robachevsky - Member, Number Resource Organization Number Council (NRO NC) * Ms. Constanze Burguer - Member, Number Resource Organization Number Council (NRO NC) * Mr. Maemura Akinori - Member, Number Resource Organization Number Council (NRO NC) ________________________________ The Internet Coordination Policy 2 (ICP-2<https://www.icann.org/resources/pages/new-rirs-criteria-2012-02-25-en>) was developed in 2001 through the Address Supporting Organization (ASO), with contributions from APNIC, ARIN, and RIPE NCC. Its purpose was to establish criteria for the recognition of new Regional Internet Registries (RIRs), serving as a framework to guide how RIRs are recognized and maintained. For more than two decades, ICP-2 has been the implicit standard for RIR accreditation and operations. However, the Internet ecosystem has evolved considerably since then — both in scale and in governance complexity. Recognizing the need for modernization, the Number Resource Organization Executive Council (NRO EC), together with the Address Supporting Organization Address Council (ASO AC), launched an initiative to review and update ICP-2 to better reflect today’s realities. Among other discussions, the Council representatives will give a summary of the main changes between the two versions of the RIR Governance Documents and the rationale behind these changes. This summary of changes is also available on the NRO website<https://www.nro.net/policy/internet-coordination-policy-2/rir-governance-do…> As part of this review process, the Number Resource Organization Number Council (NRO NC) will host a webinar to share insights into the next phase of the ICP-2 update. The session will introduce the second draft of the “Governance Document for the Recognition, Operation, and Derecognition of Regional Internet Registries<https://www.nro.net/policy/internet-coordination-policy-2/rir-governance-do…>,” which is intended to replace the original ICP-2. Key Takeaways * Gain a clear understanding of the ongoing process to update ICP-2, a foundational policy that guides the recognition and operation of Regional Internet Registries (RIRs). * Understand the rationale behind the proposed updates and how they reflect today’s evolving Internet governance landscape. * Participate in the global consultation process. Secure your Spot Here<https://us02web.zoom.us/webinar/register/4417605103013/WN_02Su1UIGQSub3mHYK…> Be sure to save the date and spread the word as your participation is key to making these sessions a success! ________________________________ Explore the full schedule and learn more about AFRINIC webinars on our Webinar Series Page<https://afrinic.net/events/webinar-series>. Fearghas McKay's sad passing
by Andrew Alston 03 Oct '25

03 Oct '25

Hi All, I am sure many on this list knew Fearghas McKay, who attended many events on the continent and was one of the AFPIF Program Committee Co-Chairs. Sadly, he passed away this morning and I figured I would let people know so that together we can mourn the loss of a great guy, who I considered a friend. Rest in peace mate, your presence and your contributions will be sorely missed. Thanks Andrew
