(Apologies for cross-posting) Dear Colleagues, You are invited to register for the "Stories of Resilience: Celebrating African Women Shaping Digital Transformation" Webinar. As we celebrate this year’s International Girls in ICT Day themed, “Girls in ICT for Inclusive Digital Transformation,” we are reminded that Africa's digital future must be built by all and that includes the voices, innovations, and leadership of women. * Date: 17th April 2025 * Time: 10:00 -11:30 UTC * Duration: 1:30 Hrs * Registration link<https://us02web.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_jsm653P-SRGGvBsjGiMlxA> Across Africa, the digital revolution is reshaping economies, industries, and societies. Yet, despite the rapid growth of ICT, women remain significantly underrepresented in the sector. Structural barriers, societal expectations, and workplace biases continue to limit the participation of women in the very field that is driving the continent’s future. Despite the odds, there are trailblazing women across Africa who have defied these odds, risen to the challenge, shattered glass ceilings, and proved that the future of ICT must be inclusive. Through candid conversations, the webinar will highlight the challenges, triumphs, and impact of their work in a “male-dominated” field. The panelists will offer insights, mentorship, and nuggets of wisdom to young women aspiring to break into and thrive in ICT, demonstrating that inclusion is not just necessary but essential for Africa’s digital future. This webinar is not just about storytelling, it is about building a movement that fosters diversity and equity in ICT, inspiring the next generation of African women to become leaders, innovators, and change makers in the digital space. Key Takeaways * Gain insights as to why diversity in ICT is crucial for Africa’s growth and how women can take the lead in shaping an inclusive digital transformation. * Learn from the real-life experiences of trailblazing African women in tech, as they share their challenges, achievements, and impact. * Be inspired and motivated to pursue a career in technology, with actionable lessons on breaking barriers and stepping into leadership roles in ICT. ________________________________ Secure your spot and register here.<https://us02web.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_jsm653P-SRGGvBsjGiMlxA> Be sure to save the date and spread the word as your participation is key to making these sessions a success! ________________________________ Explore the full schedule and learn more about each webinar both previous and upcoming on our Webinar Series Page<https://afrinic.net/events/webinar-series>. by Ant Brooks 03 Apr '25

03 Apr '25

Dear ZANOGers, Many of you will have already seen this invitation circulating on the ZANOG discuss Telegram group, but I'm distributing a copy via email for everyone who still reads their email ;). Short version: The DCA and ISPA are convening a meeting next week primarily to raise awareness of the current issues at AFRINIC, but also to encourage some discussion of steps that South African resource holders can take to fix AFRINIC. There is also an AFRINIC strategy workshop on the agenda for ZANOG25 in KZN later this month where there will be a further opportunity to discuss this, and I encourage everyone attending ZANOG to participate in that too. Warm regards, Ant Brooks ISPA Secretariat

Dear everyone, The Internet is for everyone. It gives people opportunities and boosts economic development. But for everyone to leverage the Internet's full potential, it needs to be affordable and reliable. This is why we need to keep building and improving infrastructure, like Internet Exchange Points (IXPs), working with local and regional communities to create a thriving Internet ecosystem that keeps traffic local, reduces costs, sparks development, and improves the quality of Internet services. Today, we’re excited to announce that the 2025 Sustainable Peering Infrastructure Funding Program is now open for applications. Funding will specifically support: 1. Existing IXPs that need additional funding to grow or become sustainable 2. Organizations that hope to build a new IXP 3. Entities that work with local communities to improve peering and infrastructure 4. Entities that provide a positive contribution to the entire IXP ecosystem Grant funds up to USD $70,000 are open to all regions and are available to assist in equipment purchases (switches, optic modules, servers, and routers), training, capacity building, and community development. Applications are accepted from January 28 to March 27, 2025. Details about eligibility, selection criteria, and more are available here: https://www.internetsociety.org/funding-areas/sustainable-peering-ixp/ All applications for funding must be submitted online in English, French, or Spanish through the Internet Society Foundation’s grants management system.
