Hello everyone,
INX-ZA operate community-run Internet exchange points, with the management committee elected from the general Internet community. We hold annual elections to elect new members to the management committee for a 2year term. This is your chance to contribute to the management and operations, of these 100% community operated IXPs, to grow a better peering environment for yourselves. Elected persons are natural persons; ie. they do not represent any particular organisation, and they do not have to be from a participating network at any of the INXes, nor from any particular geography. It is expected that volunteers have a legitimate interest in improving the peering landscape.
The terms of reference for INX committee members, is available online at https://www.inx.net.za/display/pub/INX+Committee. Committee member usually meet online once a month, to set policy and provide managerial oversight to the INXs' operations. Committee members may also meet in person, up to twice a year.
Are you, or someone you know, willing to stand as a candidate for INX-ZA’s Management Committee for 2025-27?

Dear everyone,
The Internet is for everyone. It gives people opportunities and boosts economic development. But for everyone to leverage the Internet's full potential, it needs to be affordable and reliable. This is why we need to keep building and improving infrastructure, like Internet Exchange Points (IXPs), working with local and regional communities to create a thriving Internet ecosystem that keeps traffic local, reduces costs, sparks development, and improves the quality of Internet services.
Today, we’re excited to announce that the 2025 Sustainable Peering Infrastructure Funding Program is now open for applications. Funding will specifically support:
1.
Existing IXPs that need additional funding to grow or become sustainable
2.
Organizations that hope to build a new IXP
3.
Entities that work with local communities to improve peering and infrastructure
4.
Entities that provide a positive contribution to the entire IXP ecosystem
Grant funds up to USD $70,000 are open to all regions and are available to assist in equipment purchases (switches, optic modules, servers, and routers), training, capacity building, and community development. Applications are accepted from January 28 to March 27, 2025. Details about eligibility, selection criteria, and more are available here: https://www.internetsociety.org/funding-areas/sustainable-peering-ixp/
All applications for funding must be submitted online in English, French, or Spanish through the Internet Society Foundation’s grants management system. This round of applications closes on 27 March 2025.
For further inquiries about this grant program or the application process, email foundation(a)isocfoundation.org<mailto:foundation@isocfoundation.org>.
