Hi All I didnt know where to start to get the ball rolling but promised everyone (that I can remember speaking to last night) I would mail them.
As per the presentation last night (see attached) a basic structure needs to be setup. I would like to suggest we have a quick web call so everyone can do an intro and a Chairperson can be elected.
Maybe the first thing to work out a time for the call is decide if people prefer during office hours or after hours or dont mind. If you can reply with which you prefer and if there is a preferred day of the week.
On that call can I suggest that the name of the group is decided so it is always referred to with the same name. Also a decision is made on how communications will happen. eg email, telegram, whatsapp, mattermost, discord, etc. Also web calling platform, zoom / jitsi / teams.
I purely setup a closed mailing list to keep track of names in this intro stage when people can be added if they would like to contribute and removed if they are unable to contribute.
The floor is yours
Cheers
Don
Hey Don,
Thanks for starting this.
I'm open for anytime for the call. I don't mind. Any day.
I like the name, Action group. But Focus is also a good one. Maybe whatsapp is the easiest. But I don't mind which one we use for comms. Web calling, zoom or teams is good.
Why? Why IPv6 can be good business. We are changing the rules of the Internet game. In the case of IPv6, Darwin’s theory of evolution applies — companies and organizations that best adapt to change will survive. If we don’t get an early start with IPv6, we will be developing platforms that do not support new features and that will soon become obsolete.

Hi,
+1 to Tonie's "any time", some days are easier than others, and other evenings are easier than others.
I do think that whilst Hendrik's email do touch valid points, we really do need to start with structure, and then move onto problems, the primary one being the "why" question, and my discussions with others all point back to "financial benefits". But unless we can sort out the "why this is a good idea" the "how to do this" won't matter much longer term.
FYI, I'm the id10t that contributed the dhcpv6relay plugin and supporting infrastructure for ppp project - aimed at "server side", it happens to include some RA code too, and given Hendrik's comments I can certainly add some code to issue a /64 to the RA (either statically or from DHCPv6 itself).
There is a surprising amount of other open-source related shortcomings on project like rp-pppoe (pppoe-server), xl2tpd as well as pppd itself that I found surprising in 2025, which not only relates to ipv6, but also to other ISP related aspects. I've started contributing where I can, but capacity is limited, and same as with pushing IPv6 ... we tend to go where the $$$ is. Which loops back to we need to figure out the *why IPv6*, and we need to do it soon.
Don, may I suggest you pick some dates and times that works for you, say 5 or so, and then run a poll (using something like surveymonkey, hopefully it can do a ranked thing where each of us can say "these three options works for us, and my preference is as follows" kind of thing.
Kind regards, Jaco
